Suzuki has finally entered into the fully-faired, 250cc segment in India with a bang. The company has launched the much awaited Gixxer SF 250 at a price of INR. 1.71 Lakhs. This motorcycle debuts a new design language for Suzuki in India. The most eye-catching part about the motorcycle is the headlight with sharp edges that tie in nicely with the cuts and creases over the rest of the motorcycle. The fairings, tank, and tail also appear proportionate and look smooth without being too aggressive. Other design features include the short windscreen, gold-coloured finish on the engine casing, clip-on handlebar and chrome-tipped double barrel exhaust that look somewhat similar to the Gixxer 150s we've seen in the past.
Powering the Gixxer SF 250 is a 249cc, single-cylinder, SOHC oil-cooled, fuel injected engine mated to a 6-speed gearbox that makes 26.5hp at 9,000rpm and 22.6Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. Suspension duty is taken care of by a telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear while braking is handled by discs on both wheels, the motorcycle also comes equipped with dual-channel ABS as standard. The Gixxer SF 250 will be going against some of the heavyweights in its segment and some above it which include the Yamaha Fazer 25, Honda CBR250R ABS, KTM RC 200, Bajaj Pulsar RS 200, and the Bajaj Dominar 400.
